The second half of our fall term is always INCREDIBLY busy, with multiple opportunities for students to practice performing and to celebrate the season. Some highlights:

• Our final rep classes (studio classes) are scheduled before Thanksgiving break. These classes are a low-pressure opportunity for students to play in front of their peers.
• Dress rehearsals for our final recitals of the year happen the weekend before Thanksgiving. While we don’t hold them for all recitals, we do for our Christmas and Spring recitals, which are the most formal events that we hold.
• The last two months of the fall term are full of holiday events, including our popular Halloween recitals, and our end-of-term Christmas recitals. It’s our favorite time of year!

A favorite of our students, our annual Halloween recitals are the afternoon of October 25th. Come in costume and enjoy a program of spooky, silly holiday music!

Over 30 students from Star City Music studios participated in the National Federation of Music Club’s junior festival the first two weekends in March. Out of 35 entries, students received 31 superior ratings and 4 excellent ratings, an exceptionally strong year for our studio. Additionally, four students performed on the district honors recital, in recognition of their consecutive years of superior ratings at festival. Congratulations to all of our hard-working students, their dedicated teachers, and their supportive families.

We are busy preparing for the National Federation of Music Clubs Junior Festival on March 1st. In preparation for the festival, students will perform in one of our festival recitals on Saturday, February 22nd. Not part of Federation? Students are welcome to perform in our Winter Recital the same afternoon.

We cap off our fall term with a busy December of performances.

October is a busy month at the studio. We’ll be heading to Columbus for the Ohio Federation of Music Clubs, then we’re back to Dayton for a roundtable on the business of running a music studio, followed by one of the highlights of the year: our annual Halloween Recitals.

We had three campers graduate today from Keyboard Camp! We can’t wait to see you back at the studio next month along with our rising Musikgarten students to begin your first semester of keyboard.

Our campers spent a week at the seashore as we sang, danced, played instruments, and made crafts.
